Betty Kydd and her daughter, Cindy opened La Jolie Jupe Ltd. in 1967 at 711 Richmond. It was the first clothing boutique in London selling mini skirts, handmade jewellery, incense,scented candles and funky giftware. The store soon outgrew its space and moved to its present location at 642 Richmond Street. This century home was redesigned by a French architect to become the new location of La Jolie Jupe Ltd. The store expanded in 1973, and again in 1981 to occupy the full first floor. Cindy and her Mom ran the store together until her mother passed away in 2007. Cindy continues to operate the store, personally selecting everything she sells. Cindy carries an excellent selection of women’s clothing which is both Canadian and imported from Europe. Many brands are exclusive to her store. The focus is to offer up to the minute styles that appeal to and suit all ages and lifestyles. Cindy sells an extensive selection of sportswear, career wear, dresses,coats,scarves,socks, jewellery, hats and gloves. Sizes range from xs to xl, or 4 to 16. Larger or smaller sizes than these can often be specially ordered.
Cindy sells Tribal, Junge,Not Your Daughters Jeans, Glima, CYC, Yest, Gardeur, Part Two, Paul Brial, Foxcroft, Eva Tralala, PBJ Blues and Nally and Millie, plus many more.
La Jolie Jupe Ltd. also carries an excellent selection of the Michel Soaps, toiletries, aprons, pot holders and tea towels. The store has a great selection of greeting cards.
